Stony Brook Firefighters Respond to Downed Power Lines and Brush Fire

At at 2:59 p.m. on July 6, the Stony Brook Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a brush fire and downed high-voltage power lines.
While utility technicians secured the electrical hazard, Chiefs 31, 32, Special Operations 5, and Engine 2 set up a safety perimeter.
Firefighters and PSEG staff worked together to safely contain the situation. Residents were cautioned by department officials to keep at least 30 feet away from downed power wires and to always treat them as energized.
