On July 12, at around 8 p.m., the Stony Brook Volunteer Fire Department responded on a mutual aid assignment to cover the Smithtown Fire Department's station while it dealt with a working structure fire.
Along with members of the Ronkonkoma Fire Department, Chief 5A3-33 and Engine 4 responded, guaranteeing that the Smithtown community had access to emergency coverage throughout the crisis. The assignment emphasized the value of coordinated emergency response and regional collaborations for mutual aid.
