Cornwall-on-Hudson Firefighters Quickly Contain Structure Fire on Cornwall Avenue

Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY -July 26, 2026 - At approximately 3:19 p.m., the Cornwall-on-Hudson Fire Department was dispatched to 14 Cornwall Avenue, in the Cliffside Park section of the Village of Comwall-on-Hudson, for a reported structure fire.


Upon arrival, Chief Trainor and Assistant Chief Calamari found smoke emanating from the attic area of a single-story, single-family residence. Due to conditions encountered on arrival, a second alarm was transmitted, bringing additional mutual-aid resources to the scene.


Once Squad 411 and Tower Ladder 413 arrived on scene, firefighters initiated an interior attack and primary search of the residence, members initiated an interior attack and primary search of the residence. The primary search was completed with no victims located. Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the bulk of the fire within minutes of arrival.


Tower Ladder 413, conducted vertical ventilation operations to remove heat and smoke from the structure and improve conditions for interior crews. Other Cornwall-on-Hudson Fire Department apparatus on scene were Engine 412 and Brush 414.


The fire was placed under control approximately 30 minutes after the arrival of the first apparatus. No injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians.


The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit.
