On July 12, at around 10:25 p.m., the Mastic Fire Department responded to a small aircraft crash landing due to a landing gear malfunction.

When Chief Rudy Sunderman arrived, the aircraft was safely on the ground but had a fluid leak from the nose section and its front landing gear disintegrated. To stop additional danger, firefighters stabilized the scene, secured the aircraft, and evaluated the hazard.

The Suffolk County Police Department and Mastic EMS were also called to the scene. Within an hour, every unit had cleared the area and was back in service.
