Defensive Operations Contain Fully Involved Barn Fire in Auburn

Auburn, ME - The Auburn - Maine Fire Department responded to a reported barn fire on North River Road, where first-arriving units encountered a fully involved structure.

Due to the extent of the fire, crews operated defensively and focused on protecting a nearby exposure housing livestock. With no hydrants in the area, firefighters established a water shuttle operation with the assistance of multiple mutual aid departments.

The incident was complicated by a large volume of hay stored inside the barn, requiring extended operations to extinguish the fire and control hot spots. Crews remained on scene for several hours, with personnel continuing monitoring operations afterward. Mutual aid partners and the Lewiston-Auburn 911 Communications Center played a key role in supporting the coordinated response.
