Durham, ME - Durham Fire & Rescue units were requested to assist Freeport Fire Rescue with an approximately one-acre wildland fire located in a remote, difficult-to-access area, requiring coordinated multi-agency suppression efforts.

On 29 August, Forestry 28 operated directly on the fire line, working to contain and suppress active burning in heavy vegetation and challenging terrain. Tanker 29 maintained continuous water shuttle operations, ensuring a reliable supply of water for ongoing suppression efforts as crews worked deep into the affected area.

The incident required sustained operations due to the fire’s depth and limited accessibility for traditional apparatus, with crews focusing on containment and elimination of hot spots to prevent further spread.

While units were committed to the wildland response, additional Durham Fire & Rescue personnel remained in service handling local emergency medical calls to maintain full community coverage throughout the duration of the incident.
