Dodgingtown CT - On Friday evening, June 14th, firefighters and the other four Newtown Departments were called for a structure fire on Greenleaf Farms Rd. A lightning storm had recently been through the area. Chief Steve Murphy arrived first, reporting a 4000 Sq ft McMansion with heavy fire through the roof. He immediately requested additional tankers from several neighboring towns. The non-hydranted area required two water sources and an extensive tanker shuttle. The fire was knocked down in 20 minutes, but required extensive overhaul bringing in a few more departments for additional crews. The roof, second floor, and much of the basement suffered extensive damage. The first floor and an attached garage were saved. On scene were Dodgingtown, Hawleyville, Newtown Hook and Ladder, Sandy Hook, Botsford, Redding, Bethel, Stepney, among others.
