MASTIC BEACH, NY - On May 31st at about 3:25 P.M., the Mastic Beach Fire Department was activated for a report of a boat fire on Wavecrest Drive. Smoke could be seen coming from blocks away, and on arrival Chief of Department Jeff McGown (5-13-30) advised that he had an active boat fire. The Mastic Fire Department was also activated for an engine to the scene. On arrival, firefighters made quick work of the boat that was on fire in the driveway. No injuries were reported.
