Dumont - Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a garage fire Sunday afternoon that started on the exterior and extended to both the garage and fence. Just before 1pm firefighters were requested to the area of Depew St and Virgina ave for a reported house fire. As units were enroute, Command reported he had a coloum of smoke and requested units to step it up. On arrival command reported he had a fire on the bravo side of the garage, located in the rear of 100 Virgina Ave, involving a vinyl fence, propane tanks and side of the garage. Engine 3 arrived on scene and stretched a line to the rear and was able to quickly knock down the fire and open up to extinguish any hot spots. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and caused minor interior damage to the garage but heavily damaged the exterior of the garage and fence. The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental. No injuries were reported.
