DUMONT, NJ - Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a garage fire Sunday afternoon, June 26th, that started on the exterior and extended to both the garage and fence.

Just before 1:00 P.M., firefighters were requested to the area of Depew St. and Virginia Ave. for a reported house fire. As units were en route, command reported that he had a column of smoke and requested units to step it up. On arrival, command reported a fire on the 'Bravo' side of the garage, located in the rear of 100 Virginia Ave., involving a vinyl fence, propane tanks and side of the garage.

Engine 3 arrived on scene and stretched a line to the rear, and was able to quickly knock down the fire and open up to extinguish any hot spots. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and caused minor interior damage to the garage, but heavily damaged the exterior and the fence. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental. No injuries were reported.
