The Essex Fire Department responded to a report of a distressed boat behind Cranes Beach on June 16.

Assistant Chief 2, Squads 1 and 2, as well as the department's rescue boat, reacted to the situation, according to officials. Launched from Conomo Point, the fire department boat found the ship that had grounded in shallow water. While making sure the site remained safe, crews evaluated the situation and helped the inhabitants.

There were no reported injuries.
