South Foster, R.I. — June 4 — Crews from South Foster Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported chicken coop fire on King Road early in the morning. When Engine 1, Tanker 1, Rescue 2, and Engine 2 arrived, they discovered that the little structure was on fire. Before the fire could spread to surrounding structures or foliage, firefighters swiftly installed hose lines and put it out.

To make sure the area was safe and to look for any hidden fire extensions, crews stayed on the spot. There were no reported injuries. The event made clear how crucial quick action and well-coordinated actions are to keeping a small fire from growing into a bigger problem.
