Quick Firefighter Response Limits Damage in Tiverton Garage Fire

Tiverton, RI - A garage fire caused by improperly discarded fireworks was quickly contained by Tiverton firefighters, preventing the blaze from spreading into the home's living areas.


Crews arrived to find heavy fire extending up the exterior wall of the garage and into the attic space above. Firefighters brought the fire under control and confined damage to the garage and attic.


No injuries were reported. The Tiverton Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was accidental in nature and caused by the improper disposal of fireworks.


Mutual aid was provided by the Portsmouth, Fall River, and Westport Fire Departments, while the Middletown Fire Department covered Tiverton stations during the incident.
