VESTAL, NY - The Vestal Fire Department responded on May 19th to a brush fire near the municipal water tank on Verna Drive after the first unit to arrive reported a major fire blazing on the steep hillside. The scene was attended to by all four Vestal fire departments. While Vestal EMS offered crews medical standby backup, the Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad helped by transporting firefighters and equipment to the fire site utilizing a UTV. Endwell Fire, West Corners Fire, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Vestal Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Vestal Police Department—which used a drone to help with incident operations and site assessment—provided further support.
