Smithtown, N.Y. — July 10 — The Smithtown Fire Department, situated at 100 Elm Ave., Smithtown, NY 11787, was called in after multiple reports of a vehicle colliding with a building along Route 347. Firefighters arrived to find a Jeep Wagoneer with what appeared to be a medical problem that had crashed into another vehicle, gone through a fence, and leaned against the Speedway gas station structure.

The personnel were assisted by the Suffolk County Police Department in removing the occupants, securing the vehicle, and resolving the issue. Two individuals were evaluated by EMS personnel and then transported to a neighboring hospital. The building suffered minimal damage prior to being turned over to the police for an examination.
