Smithtown, N.Y. — July 11 — Following a report of a house fire on Oakside Drive, Smithtown Fire Rescue Communications dispatched the Smithtown Fire Department, located at 100 Elm Ave., Smithtown, NY 11787. A heavily involved working fire was confirmed by the first-arriving chief, who also asked for an immediate EMS response for a citizen who had been severely burned.

More than 100 firefighters from other departments were called in when the situation escalated to a three-alarm response. Before the fire was contained, crews worked for more than three and a half hours. While fire investigators investigated the cause, two civilians and one fireman were transported with injuries.
