As they continued their firefighter training and responded to emergency situations, members of the Crescent Hose Company had a hectic start to the week.

Along with mutual aid organizations, Ladder 209 and Engine 212 responded to a reported house fire in the borough on May 18. Before the issue could cause serious harm, crews promptly located and fixed its root cause.

The following day, Engine 212, Engine 204, and Squad 207 responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 90, where firefighters located and extinguished a small smoldering fire.

Training on May 20th focused on fireground ventilation techniques for newer members. Firefighters practiced horizontal ventilation using positive pressure fans, hydraulic ventilation with hoselines, and vertical ventilation through roof operations. Officials said the drill reinforced critical skills used to remove heat and smoke from structures, improving safety for both occupants and responders.
