The Franklin Fire Company's Squad 41 responded to two odd situations on May 28th that needed rescue and emergency assistance.
The first report, according to officials, happened on Mercersburg Road when a man fell over an embankment while trying to move a turtle. The patient was packaged by several emergency personnel, who then used a 3:1 rope haul method to return him to the road. After being saved, the patient was given to emergency medical services and then flown to a nearby trauma facility for additional care.
Later that night, shortly after midnight, Squad 41 responded to Walker Road after a vehicle fleeing from the Pennsylvania State Police came to a stop following a pursuit on Interstate 81. Firefighters secured the vehicle and assisted EMS crews with patient care at the scene.
Officials said both incidents demonstrated the department’s diverse rescue capabilities and its role in supporting law enforcement and emergency medical operations.
