GETTYSBURG, PA — June 14th — Following complaints of smoke and fire emanating from a residential residence, Gettysburg Fire responded to a reported house fire on Line Drive in Straban Township. When crews arrived, they discovered that the homeowner had mostly put out the outside fire after being notified by a passing car.
After heat from the fire destroyed the outer siding of a two-story house, firefighters investigated the site and looked for potential fire extensions. To make sure there was no hidden fire left, engine and tower crews examined the interior and removed siding. According to officials, the homeowner's timely warning and intervention prevented more serious damage to the house.
