QUEENS, NY - Queens firefighters (FDNY) were busy Saturday afternoon, June 13th, as a fifth alarm was transmitted for Box 7967 following a fire on the top floor of an occupied multiple dwelling at 41-40 Denman Street. The fire spread from the top-floor apartment into several adjoining apartments and the cockloft. A quick and aggressive attack by New York's Bravest prevented the fire from extending into the other wings of the H-type building. Approximately 30 units and more than 100 firefighters battled the blaze. Several firefighters sustained injuries, though they are believed to be minor. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
