Kitchen Fire Damages Branford Home on Short Beach Road

The Branford Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 156 Short Beach Road at 12:19 a.m. on May 27.


When first responders arrived, they discovered a fire in a single-family home's kitchen. In order to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the house, firefighters swiftly controlled and put it out.


According to officials, one resident was assessed on the spot and sent to Yale New Haven Hospital for smoke inhalation treatment by Branford Fire EMS. There were no recorded firefighter injuries.


The Guilford Fire Department and the East Haven Fire Department arrived to offer Rapid Intervention Team coverage and automatically supplied mutual aid assistance. Investigators found that the incident started accidentally in a microwave oven after flammable goods inside caught fire.
