On Wednesday May 21st, members of Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Class 75 graduated after 15 weeks of training to become firefighters. Included within that class are two members who will join the ranks of the Norwich Fire Department, Daniel Benjamin and Ryan Douchette.
Firefighter Benjamin has been assigned to Platoon 3 and is the son of current Battalion Chief Marc Benjamin, a 26 year veteran of the department.
Firefighter Douchette attended the fire academy as a participant in the Hero To Hero Program, which helps members of the military transition to careers in public service. He began his orientation with Chief Erban and has been assigned to Platoon 2. His father Jeff is a retired Deputy Chief of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department.
Congratulations to all and welcome aboard.
