This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

FALL RIVER, MA - On May 30th around 5:30 P.M., firefighters were toned out for a still alarm reporting a fire at a local Portuguese restaurant. Engines, 2, 4 and 5, along with Ladders 2 and 4, Heavy Rescue 1 and Car 3 responded.

Car 3 arrived moments later and reported heavy smoke showing and called a working structure fire and a second-alarm. This was a non-business day for the restaurant, so crews had to force entry while the crew of Rescue 1 searched the apartments above and the apartments in the rear of the business.

Attack lines were brought to the front and rear of the structure and heavy fire was found in the kitchen and storage area of the restaurant. Firefighters quickly knocked down the heavy fire while the crew of Ladder 2 ventilated the roof. Two firefighters were injured during this fire, but there were no injuries to the residents.
