This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

RUTLAND, VT. — May 5 — During a busy afternoon, the City of Rutland Fire Department responded to three different fire incidents: a brush fire in Mendon, a mutual aid wildland response, and a structure fire. When crews first got to Terrill Street, they discovered fire inside a wall on the outside of a house. The fire was swiftly contained by firefighters, limiting damage and preserving occupancy in all four flats. There were no reported injuries.

Later, while other crews dealt with a rapidly developing brush fire in Mendon caused by a downed power line, other people responded mutual aid to a wildland fire in Proctor using forestry equipment and a UTV. Before the fire spread more than a quarter of an acre, firefighters put it out.
