NORWALK, CT - The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Sunday, May 21st at 11:06 P.M. The fire was located at #5 Kreiner Lane in a one-story split level ranch.

Initial reports stated a fully involved car fire in an attached garage.  All occupants were stated to be out of the building and accounted for.

Upon arrival, Engine 1 encountered heavy fire coming from the garage and basement. The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes by a first-alarm assignment consisting of three Engines, two Ladder trucks, one Rescue truck, and a Command vehicle, totaling 25 personnel.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the basement area of the residence while preventing extension to the first floor and attic. There was one family displaced by the fire. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal's Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
