Columbia County 911 sent the Canaan Protective Fire Company and neighboring departments to Rock City Road in Chatham at around 1:37 p.m. on April 25 in response to a reported brush fire.
The East Chatham Fire Company promptly responded and started suppression efforts, according to officials. Canaan crews responded with Engine 3432, supplying water and assisting firefighters already operating on scene.
The Lebanon Valley Protective Association, the Chatham Rescue Squad, the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company, and the New York State Police also contributed extra help.
To control and put out the brush fire, crews cooperated.
