The Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department's Ladder 1 responded to a working structure fire in the Township of Belleville on May 3rd in order to provide mutual aid.

Arriving personnel were diverted to a secondary fire that had been ignited by embers from the first event, according to officials. Before preparing for further operations at the initial fire area, firefighters worked with supporting agencies to swiftly contain the secondary fire.

According to the department, members later came back to help with ongoing operations while the situation was still ongoing. Additionally, officials expressed gratitude to firemen and mutual assistance partners for their cooperation and commitment throughout the prolonged response.
