On May 8, at around 10:19 a.m., local crews were working at a fourth-alarm fire in the Borough of Carlstadt when the Ridgefield Fire Department arrived to give station coverage.

During the assignment, Ridgefield workers collaborated with Engine 2 of the Secaucus Fire Department, according to officials. Ridgefield firefighters responded to an active fire alarm call in addition to patrolling the municipality.

For around three hours, members continued to be allocated to coverage responsibilities. Carlstadt incident Prevention is still looking into what caused the incident.
