Garage Fire Extends into Home, Displaces Residents

Freetown, MA - Freetown firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire inside a garage at a residence on Chace Road, with Stations 2 and 3 dispatched to the scene.


Emergency dispatchers instructed occupants to evacuate, and all four residents safely exited the home. One individual sustained a back injury while assisting others during the evacuation and was transported by Freetown EMS for evaluation.


Upon arrival, command reported a working fire in a ranch-style residence with an attached garage underneath. Heavy fire was showing from the garage with extension into the living space above and into the second floor.


A working fire assignment was transmitted, bringing all Freetown personnel and equipment to the scene along with mutual aid from Lakeville, Rochester, and Dartmouth District 3. The Providence Canteen provided rehabilitation support for crews.


Firefighters deployed multiple handlines to bring the fire under control and conducted extensive overhaul operations. No injuries to fire personnel were reported.
