Mutual Aid Units Operate at Derry Township Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

CRABTREE, Pa. — April 25th — When a residential structure fire involving a vacant residence occurred in Derry Township, members of the Crabtree Fire Department arrived to help. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered that the building was completely destroyed by fire and had partially collapsed. While teams tried to limit the fire and safeguard surrounding properties, rescue and utilities personnel helped mutual aid companies with fireground operations.

The incident was one of numerous midnight emergency responses that the department handled over the weekend, according to officials. Because of the unstable building conditions and collapse threats associated with vacant structure fires, firefighters may have additional safety concerns. During suppression, overhaul, and scene safety activities, crews were on the scene for a considerable amount of time.
