At 3:07 pm on Friday, 5/6/2022 the Norwich Fire Department was dispatched to 533 Boswell avenue for a structure fire. Engine 2 arrived at 3:10 with smoke showing from the first floor of a 2.5 story wood frame residential rowhouse middle unit.
Engine 2 stretched an 1.75” crosslay to the front door where they were greeted by the tenants saying the kitchen was on fire and two cats were still inside. Engine 3 dressed the hydrant but did not lay in since Engine 2 quickly suppressed the fire with tank water. Truck 1 set up on the Alpha/Delta corner and flew the bucket to the second floor.
The Truck Crew then opened windows and set up a fan for ventilation. Squad A did the primary and removed the cats that were found on the second floor. The Mohegan Tribal FAST was cancelled enroute and the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
