Oxford Fire Department Provided Mutual Aid at Roxbury Road Fire

Southbury, CT — August 19 — The Oxford Fire Department provided assistance during a working structure fire that occurred on Roxbury Road in Southbury on August 19.Firefighters responded by deploying a rapid intervention team and a ladder truck.
The emergency call was received shortly after 5:20 p.m.
as crews arrived to find a large home engulfed in heavy flames. Oxford Car 1 took charge of the water supply operation and coordinated the use of tankers. Firefighters transported water from a designated source to the fire scene, and portable water storage units helped maintain an adequate water supply.
Truck 46 supported the interior firefighting efforts.
Rescue 44, Utility 35, Car 2, and Oxford EMS initially served as the rapid intervention team.After the main fire was brought under control, these units transitioned to overhaul operations.
During the operation, a portion of the building collapsed, prompting command to evacuate the crews and complete a personnel accountability report.
No firefighters were reported missing.Two firefighters were later taken for minor heat-related concerns and were subsequently released.
Oxford fire units remained at the scene until approximately 9:30 p.m.
The incident highlighted the importance of mutual aid, coordinated water supply, and specialized assignments during a large structure fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
