Technical Rescue Operation Leads to Safe Patient Extrication from Steep Embankment

Plum, PA - The Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to Kane Road with Assistant Chief 2, Rescue 236, Fire Police, along with Plum EMS and Plum Borough Police Department for an incident initially reported as a vehicle stuck on a guardrail.
Upon arrival, the situation was upgraded to a technical rescue after crews located a patient approximately 30 feet down a hillside.
Firefighters quickly implemented a coordinated rescue plan, utilizing ropes, rigging, and a stokes basket to safely access, package, and extricate the patient from the embankment.
The successful operation highlighted the importance of continuous training and preparedness, as crews routinely drill on complex rescue scenarios involving specialized equipment and techniques.
Throughout the incident, responders prioritized both patient care and scene safety, ensuring a controlled and efficient rescue effort.
