Ashaway, RI - Firefighters from the Ashaway Volunteer Fire Association responded to a reported brush fire in the 400 block of Main Street and quickly encountered a working fire spreading into a nearby wooded area.
Brush 412 arrived first on scene and confirmed an active 10-by-15-foot brush fire advancing toward the wood line.
Command was established by Car 402, and crews rapidly deployed two 1¾-inch hand lines to surround and contain the flames before they could spread further.
The Ashaway Ambulance Association was placed on standby during operations, while the Hopkinton Police Department temporarily shut down Main Street to provide firefighters with a safe working area.
Rhode Island Energy also responded after power lines became involved in the incident.
Thanks to the coordinated response, firefighters were able to quickly bring the situation under control and reopen the roadway to normal traffic shortly afterward.
