Fully Involved Van Fire Shuts Down I-95 North, Crews Bring Blaze Under Control

West Greenwich, RI - Firefighters from the Lake Mishnock Fire/Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on I-95 North near Exit 21, alongside mutual aid partners including West Greenwich Fire District #1, West Greenwich EMS, West Greenwich Police Department, and the Rhode Island State Police.
First-arriving units encountered a transit-style van fully engulfed in flames. Crews quickly deployed a handline and initiated an aggressive fire attack, working to bring the intense blaze under control while additional personnel supported suppression efforts.
Through coordinated operations between all responding agencies, the fire was successfully extinguished and the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation assisted with clearing melted debris, helping restore normal traffic flow along the highway.
No injuries were reported, and the incident highlighted strong interagency teamwork in managing a challenging roadway fire.
