Berkeley Heights, NJ — April 7th — The Berkeley Professional Building at 312 Springfield Avenue suffered damage from a second-alarm fire that forced nine firms to relocate. When Berkeley Heights Fire Department units from 411 Hamilton Avenue responded in the evening, they discovered that the fire had progressed before it was discovered. Due to the building's lack of an automated sprinkler system and a monitored fire alarm, notice was delayed and the fire was able to spread.
In order to limit extension across the building, crews launched an internal assault. On the first floor, one employee was safely evacuated. During operations, one firefighter suffered a minor injury. Station coverage, overhaul, and suppression were all aided by mutual help organizations. The event emphasizes how crucial early detection and fire safety measures are for business buildings.
