Allendale, NJ - The Allendale Fire Department responded to a residential alarm activation and arrived to find smoke inside the structure, prompting an immediate investigation.


Crews determined the cause to be a closed fireplace flue, which allowed smoke to back up into the home. Firefighters opened the flue, ventilated the structure, and monitored conditions to ensure no lingering smoke or carbon monoxide was present.


The situation was quickly brought under control with no further hazards identified.
