Crews Contain Multi-Acre Brush Fire with Strong Mutual Aid Response

East Haddam, CT - The East Haddam Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire on Ackley Road, dispatching multiple units including Brush 15, Engine 4-15, Tanker 1-15, and additional support vehicles to the scene.


Upon arrival, Captain Chris Leidemer reported a significant fire spanning approximately 3–4 acres. Command was established, and a coordinated response was initiated, including the request for a Level 1 tanker task force, mutual aid brush units, and additional manpower to combat the rapidly spreading flames.


Through a collaborative effort between East Haddam personnel and numerous mutual aid partners, the fire was successfully contained, preventing further spread and damage. The incident remains under investigation by the East Haddam Fire Marshal’s Office.
