SANDY BAY TWP., ME — March 31st — A single-vehicle collision on Route 201 close to the Falls Rest Area prompted the Jackman-Moose River Fire & Rescue Department, located at 610 Main St. On a road coated with slush, a tiny SUV heading south slipped, veered off the road, and spun before colliding with trees. Crews had to modify their strategies because the vehicle's tilt prevented access to the passenger side. In order to get access and open the door, firefighters used saws to cut down two small trees on the driver's side.
After then, the passenger was evaluated and helped out of the car. In northern Maine, early spring weather sometimes result in slush and decreased traction, which makes incidents like this frequent and necessitates careful scene management.
