On April 6, a reported outdoor fire at BB & GG Farms and Nursery on Route 25A in Head of the Harbor prompted the Nesconset Fire Department to provide mutual help to the St. James Fire Department.

When the personnel arrived, they discovered a tractor-trailer involved in a chicken run. Nearby greenhouses suffered slight damage from exposure to radiant heat due to the intensity of the fire. Engine 441 worked with several mutual assistance departments to support suppression operations.

Coordinated efforts are needed to prevent exposures and control the spread of outdoor fires affecting farm machinery and buildings. In order to stop additional damage to nearby structures, crews sought to control the fire.
