Mutual Aid Responds to I-99 Accident

BELLWOOD, PA — March 26th — Mutual aid units from Bellwood's Excelsior Fire Department No. 1 responded to a car accident on Interstate 99 northbound, just past the Tyrone exit. After arriving, crews started working to secure the area and support law police and emergency medical services. Firefighters assisted with medical care where necessary, controlled traffic hazards, and stabilized the affected automobiles. Coordinated activities are necessary for highway incidents in order to safeguard responders and maintain safe traffic flow.


During the response, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation helped with traffic control and roadway management. Units stayed on the site until risks were reduced and regular operations resumed. In order to handle roadway crises safely and effectively, officials pointed out that interagency coordination is essential.
