TYRONE, PA — April 7th — When a car collision occurred on Route 220 close to the Tipton exit, Neptune Fire Company was called to help Station 22. Under Captain Witchley's command, Engine 34 replied with a crew of three. When the engine company arrived, they were tasked with blocking a portion of the road so that emergency personnel could operate safely. While rescuers worked the area, traffic control was in place for around forty minutes.
Later, the road restriction was taken over by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, giving fire departments time to clear. Coordination between fire, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and transportation agencies is necessary to manage dangers and ensure public and responder safety during roadway operations.
