Mastic Ny – On Saturday April 11th at about 9:23 PM the Mastic Fire Department was activated for a report of a commercial structure fire at Speedway on William Floyd Parkway. Chief Rudy Sunderman arrived and did not find any smoke or flames showing but upon interviewing the store personnel he was advised that they stated they smelt something burning in the building.
Chief Sunderman advised the first due engine 5-12-1 to come into the parking lot but to leave room for the ladder ( 5-12-14) to pull up. Unit 5-12-2 Was advised to park on the street and have the crew stand by at the hydrant to await orders. On arrival of ladder 14 2 members were sent up to the roof to investigate.
All units were placed back in service and the job was placed under control in about an hour.
