— April 12th — In high fire hazard conditions, the Bungay Fire Brigade responded to a reported woods fire with help from the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association and the Muddy Brook Fire Department.
A nearby resident was notified by a bystander while units were on their way, and before responders could reach, they put out the fire using a fire extinguisher. After that, firefighters thoroughly inspected the area and verified complete extinguishment.
Officials pointed out that if the fire had not been put out quickly, the weather and fuel conditions might have caused it to spread quickly over a sizable wooded region.
Residents were advised by the department to check cars and equipment, avoid making sparks, and dispose of smoking items correctly. Leaders stressed that under the current circumstances, minor ignition sources might swiftly escalate into more significant incidents.
