Mutual Aid Supports Fire Operations and Coverage in Berlin

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BERLIN, VT — March 15th — In addition to responding to other calls in the neighborhood, the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, located at 338 Paine Turnpike North, helped the Northfield Fire Department with a home fire that occurred just across the town line. While Northfield units worked on the location, Berlin personnel came on mutual aid to supplement suppression efforts, including ventilation and fire attack. In order to maintain response coverage, Berlin firemen responded to other auto incidents while the structure fire was still raging.

Mutual aid systems enable departments to pool resources and handle numerous calls simultaneously, ensuring service continuity during prolonged emergencies. During a hectic operational period, both communities were kept safe thanks to the synchronized response.
