Appleton Crews Respond to Chimney Fire with Mutual Aid

APPLETON, ME — March 28th — A chimney fire in town was reported, and the Appleton Volunteer Fire Department responded.


The visible flames had already been put out when the crews arrived. After removing the wood stove's smoldering contents, firefighters filled the firebox with a dry chemical extinguisher to guarantee complete extinguishment. Union Fire-Rescue and Liberty Fire & Rescue provided further assistance on the site, including a ladder truck from Liberty.


A team checked the chimney using a weighted chain to make sure there was no burning material left. No injuries were reported.
