WOODBURY, NJ — March 20th — A reported car fire on S. Jackson Street prompted the Woodbury Fire Department to react. When units arrived, they discovered a passenger car with flames coming from the engine compartment. Within minutes, the fire was under control when crews extended a handline and started suppression. To remove potential risks, firefighters secured the car's battery and looked for extensions into the passenger compartment.

There were no people inside the car at the time, and no injuries were recorded. While officials worked and made sure the site was safe, traffic in the area was momentarily affected. It is frequently necessary to keep an eye out for gasoline leaks and potential rekindles in vehicle fires. To finish the overhaul and make sure all hot spots were extinguished, crews stayed on the scene. The cause of the fire is being looked into.
