NEWTON, NJ — March 18th — After an explosion on Cove Hollow Court, a reported structure fire prompted the Newton Volunteer Fire Department to react on a mutual aid assignment to Andover Township. Tower 4, Engine 1, Ladder 2, Captains 812 and 813, and other units were sent out to help with outside suppression operations. When personnel arrived, they found a heavily damaged structure.
As part of a defensive plan, aerial master streams were to be operated by Tower 4 and Ladder 2. In order to keep a consistent water supply in an area without hydrants, Engine 1 assisted with water shuttle operations. Under persistent operations, mutual aid organizations collaborated to contain the fire.
