BRANCHVILLE, NJ — April 12th — The Sandyston Township Fire Department Station 38 responded on a mutual aid assignment into Pike County, Pennsylvania, for a reported brush fire. With a crew of five, Brush 38 and Chief 1 arrived to support Station 28 of the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Company. In order to confine any lingering hotspots and stop their spread, crews worked on the scene using overhaul and suppression techniques.
Due to wind and dry fuels, brush fires are frequent in the spring and frequently call for aid from several organizations. To contain the fire, units used conventional wildland firefighting techniques, such as mobile attack and hand tools. The reaction is an example of how neighboring departments across state lines continue to coordinate mutual aid.
