West Chazy Crews Handle MVA with Utility Hazard

West Chazy, NY — April 1st — The West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department responded to a car accident at Recore Road and Atwood Road with fire and emergency medical services. When units arrived, they discovered a collision involving utility lines, which prompted an instant focus on hazard mitigation and scene safety. As a precaution, the area's power was turned off; the length of the interruption is unknown. Crews from New York State Electric & Gas arrived to control the electrical problem and safeguard the grid.


While traffic was limited to enable safe operations, firefighters helped EMS and stabilised the area. Coordination is necessary in utility-related incidents to lower the risk to responders and the general public. There were no reported injuries. During operations, authorities warned drivers to stay away from the area.
