This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - During the morning hours of Saturday, April 5th, Woodbridge Fire Department, Avenel Truck 5 and Port Reading Engine 2-1 were dispatched to the 200 block of Freeman St. for a reported fire. The call was quickly updated to visible smoke and flames from the back of the house. While responding, 1-3-5 had a column of smoke in the air and requested two additional engine companies. Upon arrival of the battalion chief, he had a two-story, multi-family structure class V with smoke showing from the rear division 2 balcony and requested a first-alarm, bringing in an engine from Perth Amboy and an RIT team from Hopelawn. It was quickly determined to be an exterior fire and contents burning on the balcony, which was quickly knocked by a can while two hose lines were being stretched. There was no extension into the residence, and the fire was placed under control shortly after.
